I love discovering cool events in New York City and recently stumbled upon a fun exhibit “Snoopy & Belle in Fashion” during fashion week. The exhibit features 65 10-inch dolls of Peanuts’ comic strip characters, Snoppy and his sister Belle, wearing couture creations by some of the world’s most famous designers. Among the designers involved are: Anna Sui, Calvin Klein Collection, Christian Siriano, DSquared2, Diane von Furstenberg, DKNY by Donna Karan, Isaac Mizrahi, Justin Timberlake and Trace Ayala for William Rast, Kenneth Cole, Levi’s, MAC Cosmetics, Swarovski and Zac Posen….and that’s just a few.
I noticed that there were a lot of kids on the day I went, who approached the glass cases with excited squeals, rivaled only by that of my own, as I was equally delighted to see the fashionable designs. Some of my favorites include Betsy Johnson’s pun-rock hot pink bikini adorned with a heart necklace and tie-up shoes; Edwin Oudshoorn’s colorful sequined gown with chiffon bottom; and, Diane Von Furstenberg’s recreation of her signature wrap dress. Check out some of the amazing designs below.
Guests are invited to download a new “Snoopy & Belle In Fashion” app, which guides visitors through the exhibit and provides information about the history of the brand and the designers. App users can even vote for their favorite doll set, and take advantage of a photo booth and Snapchat and Instagram filters.
The exhibit, sponsored in part by Arts Brookfield, launched September 8 and runs until October 1 from 8am-10pm daily. After attending the exhibit, I learned that guest can shop the look at Babesta, which is located on the 2nd level.
“Snoopy & Belle in Fashion” is a contemporary reimagining of the inaugural “Snoopy in Fashion” project, which originally debuted in 1984 with several high-profile designers.
