October is National Breast Cancer Awareness Month, and although the month is still a couple of weeks away, it’s not too early to begin raising awareness of the disease. One in eight women will get breast cancer in her lifetime, but with early detection, the five-year survival rate is 98 percent. This year Proctor & Gamble is launching their annual GIVE Hope campaign featuring a “Do It For the Girls!” day of action and Twitter party hosted by E! News anchor and breast cancer survivor, Giuliana Rancic, on Sept. 20 at 3 p.m. The 2012 campaign will also include a Facebook app, which allows users to donate $1 to the National Breast Cancer Foundation (up to $25,000) by performing a self-exam, telling about it, and changing their cover photo to a GIVE Hope hand.
Want to participate? Here are the details of the Do It For the Girls! Twitter party, and please invite all your friends to join the event.
When: Thursday, September 20 at 3 p.m. ET
Where: Twitter – follow @pgmygive, @giulianarancic, @NBCF and #GIVEHope
Why: To rally women everywhere to perform a breast self-exam, create an early detection plan and take control.
In addition to sharing some lifesaving information, P&G will also be giving away some great prizes. Participants can RSVP for the DIFTG Twitter party here to be eligible to win the grand prize!
Also keep an eye out for P&G brandSAVER coupon booklets that will be distributed in most local newspapers across the nation on Sept. 30 and Oct. 14. For each coupon redeemed from these books, P&G will donate $0.02 and $0.01 to the National Breast Cancer Foundation respectively (uncapped).
