A few months ago, I treated my sister to a chemical peel for her birthday. I wanted to take her a place where she could get it done quickly and inexpensively, but still feel pampered and girly. I discovered a little talked about gem in the city, Blushington Makeup & Beauty Lounge. Tucked inside the Le Parker Meridien Hotel, the lounge is a beauty lover’s paradise with services ranging from eyelash extensions to airbrush foundation application. The concept of the salon is pretty much a Drybar for makeup (Drybar also happens to be located right across from the salon). The beauty bar, which also has locations in California and Texas, was launched by Stephi Maron after she realized there wasn’t any place to go just for a makeup application. The chic space is filled with its signature soft coral branding color, which is included everywhere from curtains to the trimmings on the chair. Individual makeup stations with vanity mirrors line the inside.
In addition to makeup looks, they also offer The Peel Bar by BeautyRx, which provides a professional glycolic peel in 15 Minutes for only $50. There is no irritation or downtime, so you can get glowing skin and immediately do a makeup application afterwards. When my sister saw her skin, she couldn’t stop looking in the mirror because she was so amazed at how radiant her complexion looked, so I think it’s safe to say, it worked, and she had a happy birthday.
