During this presidential election, there’s been much controversy surrounding Donald Trump’s announcement that he will build a wall to keep illegal immigrants out of America if he is elected, and MTV has taken this idea and turned it into something positive with a new installation. The TV channel has literally built a wall, which spans 10”x35’ feet, and features videos highlighting the stories of identity, diversity and immigration in America. The video collection features celebrities including Diane Guerrero from Orange Is the New Black, as well as fans who submitted their stories to MTV via social media using #BeyondTheWall.

The installation, located in New York City’s Herald Square, was purposely put up on Indigenous Peoples’ Day (which happens to also be Columbus Day) and will only be up for one day, but all videos are available for viewing on this website. On the website, people are invited to share their own stories and are provided with opportunities to take action by voting and getting involved with the community.
