Last week I attended Runa Ray’s fashion presentation which made being eco-conscious chic, with whimsical, freely flowing pieces. Various species of plants were pressed into the silks and cottons, while other pieces were organically dyed with natural ingredients such as turmeric and pomegranate peels. The show ended with a show-stopping gown called “The Bleeding Dress,” which read, “Imagination is the only weapon against reality.” Through this collection, Ray communicated the important issue of preserving our planet and the resources it provides, which is being destroyed as a result of the industry trying to sustain fast fashion demands.
