On September 8th, I attended the The Nolcha Shows at New York Fashion Week at Industria Studios. This year marked the 10th anniversary of the event, which provides a platform for emerging designers to showcase their creations to a group of industry influencers, buyers and press. I attended the 1pm “All Comes From Nothing” show by designer Eva Yiwel Xu. The collection was inspired by the Chinese philosophy of simplicity and minimalism, and featured a sleek color palette, mostly consisting of green, maroon and blue. The collection reminded me of streetwear meets chic, with bold graphics, some of which was a surprise as models walked down the runway in what seemed like an ordinary outfit, only to turn around and reveal an imprint on the back of some of the garments. The collection also included long bubble jackets, perfect for the fall. This year, for the first time, I created a video recap of the runway presentation, which I posted on Instagram.
