Clean Beauty Find: BEECAUSE

For skin care company BEECAUSE, it’s all about the bees – yes, the impressive yellow and black flying creatures responsible for producing health-boosting substances including honey, beeswax, propolis and royal jelly.

The line was started back in 2011 when the brand’s founder Jonathan realized that many of the products on the market contain chemicals that may contribute to Colony Collapse Disorder (CCD), a phenomenon that has reduced population of bees by over a third. Determined to do his part to help, he began creating homemade lip balms, until he developed Guillain-Barrè Syndrome at the age of 26. The immune disorder was brought on as a side effect of a flu vaccination he received, which many don’t realize are laced with toxic chemicals. His experience motivated him to look more closely at the toxins people are unknowingly putting into their bodies, resulting in the creation of a range of skin care products from moisturizers to scrubs.

Products in the line include mouth-watering scents such as the brand’s Coffee & Coconut Body Scrub ($15) and Honey & Blueberry Face Mask ($15). There’s also a Anti-Aging Argan Oil Face Moisturizer ($17) featuring 100 percent certified Argan Oil and of course, a beeswax based lip balm for just $3.
