Up until I was in the eighth grade, my mom took the main responsibility for the disaster that is my hair. It took a lot of pulling and smothering palm fulls of Indian Hemp hair products, for her to be able to tame my wild, frizzy coils that always seemed to channel their inner Diana Ross. Then, when I would get my hair straightened, my long hair swallowed me up like Cousin It.  As a result, I have always stuck to a basic can’t-go-wrong ponytail.

My New Year’s resolution for 2013 is to learn how to create a super glamorous hairstyle. I always have the perfect outfit and fabulous makeup look, but I am always completely clueless about how to wear my hair. In order to get ideas, I checked out the TRESemmé Style Studio, a new interactive and customizable step-by-step hair tutorial and tip site of over 100 different hair styles. On the site, you can select your hair type (straight, curly, wavy, with bangs) and hair length (short, medium, long), and occasion (Girls Night, At the Office, Blushing Bride, and Date Night).

The thing I love the most about this website is that it gives you the ability to upload a photo of yourself and get a complete hair makeover using their Instant Styler. I spent a full hour this weekend trying on different hairstyles and colors. It’s so much fun! Check out one of my results below:
