It is my favorite time of the year: Bridal Market Week! Since my time as an intern with the Sales team for Amsale, this has always been my favorite event. The Knot’s Couture Bridal Show did not disappoint. With a wide variety of designers from Justin Alexander to Maggie Sottero, retailers had the opportunity to pick from the best designs to sell to their brides.
Styles varied from simple clean lines to glamorous with an attention to sparkly detail, and the major trend I noticed is the rise of Bohemian and rustically styled gowns. This theme matches well with the rise of the organic, all-natural trend and is also great for brides who opt for smaller intimate weddings. Overall, future brides need not fear finding the right dress.

Maggie Sottero and Sottero and Midgley Fashion Shows
I was so excited to be on the trade floor to view the new designs in bridal wear, but one designer stood out to me the most: Maggie Sottero. I have admired these designs for a very long time and it was almost a dream come true to be able to sit and watch the new collection be unveiled at The Knot’s Bridal Couture Show. After a warm welcome from the President of the company, Bob Cahoon, retailers and press were treated to a special show.
The Maggie Sottero lined opened up the morning with a new collection that highlighted romance and elegance in each piece. Lace overlays and detail gave an almost ethereal look while embracing the rustic styles being sought out. What I enjoyed about each individual piece is that it seemed to be tailored to a certain bride. These looks are for the more whimsical and simple bride, or for a bride planning an outdoor or intimate wedding.

Sottero and Midgley
The Sottero and Midgley line were up next and came with bold designs. Crystal beading, lace, satin, and organza made these designs stand out. And as we all know, the back of a wedding dress is just as important as the front, as it gives your guests a sight to remember. This collection definitely gives a “wow” factor and is for the bride who is looking for an elegant, yet detailed look.
